Wiro bound books
Wire / Spiral / Wiro Binding (Books held together with a double loop wire on the spine)
This method of binding is most commonly used for short run books or books that need to be opened completely flat. Unlike saddle stitching, wiro bound books can have a page count can be a multiple of two, rather than four.
All pages are gathered together with a front and back cover in loose leaf form. This book block is then punched 8mm from the spine which allows the double loop wire to weave its way through the holes. It is then squeezed closed on a ‘closing machine’ and snipped at the end.
